Teacher Exchange & In Depth Curriculum Resource

  • Professional Development Presentation.  This is the presentation delivered during your training.  It may be modified somewhat from what you saw – specifically for the Nuclear Waste exercise. The current version has the spill happening in San Diego.  You would modify it for your area.  It is available as both a Powerpoint and PDF version. Included is a list of video links used in the presentation.  They could be easily used in the classroom when discussing invention.  Almost all of the activity worksheets referenced in the training are available through the our Educators page or the National Online Curriculum – with the exception of Mistake or Opportunity?, which is available below.
  • How To Guide / Starter Kit. This guide comes from The Henry Ford and is a complete starter kit to help you get Invention Education into your classroom and make sure your young inventors are prepared to compete at the state and national conventions.  There is a Judging Form at the back of the document that you can print out and use with your own classroom / school Invention Convention.
  • Invention Log – Every student must complete this log as described in the training.  For K-2 students, it was designed for the student to work with an adult; either the adult records what the student dictates or the beginning writer can fill in a modified form of the log with adult help to read/interpret the questions.
  • Curriculum Links:  These links are for the State In-Depth curriculum presented at Professional Development. The additional lessons available in each grade band allow the school to engage students with different, but complementary, lessons as the students move from one grade to another in a grade band.  Downloadable lesson plans, activities, worksheets, and presentations are included.
  • Materials Take Apart & Nuclear Explosion Activities — List of materials and estimated costs for materials needed for these two activities.
